Out of the darkness...

How beautiful is the weather? and how much nicer are people on the street being to each other, love it.

Just had a fantastic weekend down Bath supporting the talented Emily Maquire at a sold out show at the Chapel Arts. I was playing with Charlie Bateson as 'The AAA Revue', we got a great response and it was so nice to have a listening crowd AND a great sound onstage, (and off according to friends)- Thank you very much to Emily and Christian for giving us the slot and good luck with your fourth album 'Bird Inside A Cage'.

I'm really enjoying writing songs and performing with Charlie, hes a great writer and has a fantastic amount of enthusiasm that is infectous. We are playing the 12 Bar Club in Denmark Street tonight, (the famous London street where every shop is a guitar shop apart from two clubs and a hairdressers I think) and upstairs at the Ritzy in Brixton tomorrow. At the end of the month we will be recording with a live drummer - 3 track ep to follow. Watch this space.

Love to all, especially Ra the Sun God.

Cheers X

For once it's not all "Me, Me, Me!"...

Im still having a blast in the capital. Writing alt country songs with Charlie Batesman in ‘The AAA Revue’ and deconstructing 1980’s classic pop songs down to a sinister hush with Emma Bowles in ‘2:38’.

James ‘Jaz’ Lambeth

US born, Bath Based ‘multi-talented and all round nice man Jaz, currently plays in The Refusal and The Edsel Furys Here is the video to ‘Tiny Star’ from another one of his other bands Ottre Pop. They are stateside so he rocks out with them whenever he heads home.

Bernadette Bentley

Evolving and keeping a brand of folk alive (so new there is not even a name for it yet). Bernadette is a great observer of life and also part of a artist collective that put on very friendly, eccletic, eccentric nights called The Wallscratcher Club. Having attended I can tell you it’s a night where the Audience listen, get yourself to the next one
Lunar Engine

Fronted by the enigmatic Buck Theorem, Lunar Engine fuse (among other things) flamenco, electro and great lyrics. Buck also does a host of other exciting things so have a cyber delve!

Berlin Baby

I saw 2013 in dressed in Vintage attire at the grand Winter Gardens, Berlin courtesy of Bauheme Sauvage accompanied by the truly beautiful Ms Pol.
Played a few gigs already this year; in Portabella Market; when a train made a surprise visit half way through my first song and at Bar Solo at Camden; meeting a man with a Harmonica used by the Small Faces, who couldn’t stop playing it, even when it wasn’t his set!
I am looking to widen my eyes to everything this year, including my outlook on music. Unlike children we accept too much of what we see.  We must take over 99% for granted, maybe it’s time to regress?
Currently on the collaborator hunt, awaiting a call from a lap steel player, emailed a few acts looking for alt-country people and rehearsing with a lady with a sweet voice tonight.
Trying things, new things, if it don’t feel right Im off! You never know unless you try, eh?
Looking to make more videos, write more songs, and generally be lovelier to the World at large.
Next gig in Angel this Saturday
Zenith Bar Saturday 19th Jan 2013
